I’m also a convert — 1st from Atheist/Agnostic -> then to Baptist -> last stop PCA. I wanted to share an interesting tidbit with you. As I was reading your book, By What Authority, I came the section where you quoted R.C. Sproul’s “fallible collection of infallible books” in reference to the Canon. Why this is so amazing to me, is that this single quote was very important to my conversion. First of all, I was an eager follower of... Read more
A reader writes: I’m not sure if this will be interesting for you or not, but your “Reasons to Home school” today put me in mind of it. I am basically a failed homeschooler, and my three school-aged girls are all currently enrolled in public school. Every time you put one of those “Reasons to Home school” up, I feel all guilty and panicky (not your fault, of course, it’s something I’m just prone to. Watching HGTV makes me feel... Read more

Today, my mindless sycophants, I command you to learn and sing the lyrics to the theme from Hogan’s Heroes (as performed on the immortal “Hogan’s Heroes Sing The Best of World War II” album by the stars of Hogan’s Heroes): Heroes, heroes, husky men of war,Sons of all the heroes, of the war before. We’re all heroes up to our ear o’s,You ask the questions,We make suggestions,That’s what we’re heroes for. All good heroes love a nifty fight,Open up the bomb... Read more
…instead of direct democracy: Exhibit A: Exhibit B: We don’t want the levers of government in the hands of people like this. So we elect representatives who sort of buff off the raw edge of stupidity and craziness so often found in chemical purity in direct democracy and enact laws that are only sort of crazy and stupid. Some despair of democracy when it really dawns on them that half the population has an IQ that is below average. People... Read more
It helps to kill people too! Turns out the whole “no fault” divorce thing basically pretends that when you destroy the family you were supposed to nurture, love and support, that sort of trauma can adversely affect the health of the victims of your selfish betrayal. Amazingly, it also appears that even if everyone around you says, “Everybody agreed that it was nobody’s fault” this does nothing to mitigate the effects upon victims of divorce. In other news, scientists have... Read more
G.K.Chesterton said somewhere that one of the most refreshing things about the Catholic faith is that it teaches us that usually things really are the way they appear. There are usually no obscure theories, vast conspiracies or secret plans. The Catholic Church is just as it appears, for better or for worse. We have sinners and saints. Some of the sinners try to cover up their crimes. They usually fail. We have ‘secret archives’ but if they were really secret... Read more
The NEA now supports homosexual marriage AND abortion. On top of it all, the outgoing general council throws all conservatives in the union under the bus. My children (who are, have I mentioned it? homeschooled) will not be learning about the glories of gay sex, nor about the splendor of slaughtering children as part of their curriculum. I plan on making sure of many such gaps in their education, as well as granting them exposure to un-state-approved counter narratives about... Read more
