Today in 1968 marks the death of Giovannino Guareschi, whose popular Don Camillo novels featured a parish priest in a small Italian town in postwar Italy. The films were made into movies in Italy during the 1950’s and 1960’s. Seen here is the author with the actor Fernandel, who played the priest in the movies.
