Donald J. Trump Answers Back and Digs a Bigger Hole
The media quickly flocked to Trump to get his reaction to Khizr Khan’s speech and criticisms he hurled at Trump, asking him if he has read the constitution and telling him that he had sacrificed nothing. Trump began his response rather measured, praising Army Captain Humayun Khan, who had died during a tour in Iraq while trying to protect a number of his fellow soldier. But then he lobbied his own criticisms at Khan, namely questioning why Ghazala Khan stood silent during the whole speech:
“If you look at his wife, she was standing there. She had nothing to say. She probably, maybe, she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say. You tell me, but plenty of people have written that she was extremely quiet, and it looked like she had nothing to say,” Trump told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.
Awww, heck no. You didn’t just criticize Aunty-ji!
