Some of you might have noticed the posts on Twitter, Google+, Linkedin and Facebook last night concerning a post about me over at Friendly Atheist. I want to be clear: Hemant Mehta and I are friends. His post about me is fair and playful. But the ensuing comments make something even more obvious to me, and it is this… The urgency our minds have to label things is what is causing the problems of this world. The division in the... Read more

I have always felt it is of utmost importance to allow people their right to choose and walk their own spiritual walk, no matter where they are or where it might lead. It’s their right! Respect it. Did you know it is possible to help people leave the church, stay in the church, stay away from the church, return to the church, or to become an atheist, or to choose another religion? It’s their choice. Respect it. Yesterday I got... Read more

I find it interesting when someone says “But Christians believe this…” There are as many brands of Christianity as there are Christians. The variety of belief is profound! I am very interested in theology. I’m very interested in what the bible says Jesus taught. I’m very interested in what this means. But I’m sure, however, that lots of what gets passed for his teaching isn’t even remotely related. You might like to visit my online gallery and purchase some of... Read more

There’s been quite a bit of discussion lately on my blog and all my social media sites about belief and unbelief, Christianity and Atheism. I’ve enjoyed it. One of the things I’ve noticed and have mentioned it to a couple of people today is the obviously erroneous idea that our thoughts must be static. I do remember when it was important to me that my beliefs never change. However, I now see the importance of allowing my thoughts to change... Read more

My journey, especially over the last two years, has been one which has required considerable change in me. Actually, it has been a rather painful revelation of the transformation that is urgent and necessary. But how does a caterpillar decide to become a butterfly? Exactly! I know metamorphosis is urgent. So I await. I posture myself for change. Like our lovely Sophia, I have the feeling that as I become more grounded, the transformation I need will come. Acquire the... Read more

Last night I put up some posts on Twitter, Google+, Facebook, Tumblr, etc., about atheism. I caused quite a stir. It shouldn’t come as any surprise to our regular readers as we know I’ve talked about atheism quite a bit. In fact, some of the most prolific sharers of my cartoons are atheist sites, such as the friendly atheist. So let me explain. The bible gives room for unbelief. For instance, in Mark 9:24, a man exclaims, “Lord I believe.... Read more

Last night I made a couple of posts on Twitter and Facebook, etc., that raised quite a stir, like “Some atheists are the best Christians I know“, and “Embrace your inner atheist. After all, iron sharpens iron“, and “Did you know it is possible to be a Christian and an atheist at the same time? I’m living proof!” Lots of responses ranging from agreement to disagreement to confusion. I’m sure today’s prayer from the cell will only exacerbate these different... Read more

Today I’m giving away a fine art print of one of my drawing, “includer“. This is the offense of Jesus: not that he was tolerant (because we see with some he was not); not that he was a good man (because we see that many considered him a dangerous, sinful heretic); not that he was wise (because we see that many thought him a fool, including his own followers); and not that he was a miracle worker (because we see... Read more

We can go on making our small choices, ‘reinventing ourselves’ thoroughly, on condition that these choices do not seriously disturb the social and ideological balance (Zizek). There is a difference between “formal freedom” and “actual freedom“. Formal freedom is when we are permitted to make choices within a given system or ideology. Actual freedom is when we question the very structure that grants us formal freedom to the point of undermining its power over us altogether. Perhaps, like me, you... Read more
