We light this chalice in the increasing confidence of the light that is growing, though darkness still holds sway
In celebration of signs of growth, despite the cold snaps which are sure to come
As we bend towards Spring and renewal, we remain mindful of where we still are
And yet, we never loose sight of whom we wish to become.
This is the first in a series of chalice lightings. For 2015, we’re tying them to the New Moon, the idea being that while they are ideally intended for personal spiritual practice, they also could be used in congregations on a Sunday close to the New Moon in question. The New Moon for February 2015 will occur on the 18th. (And apologies to those of you who live too far North to have any observable signs of growth yet.)
