Book: The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness
by Michelle Alexander
For me, it solidified what I’ve researched and thought critically about regarding the racial formation of this country, and the exploitation of black labor even after slavery through Mass incarceration the new Jim Crow.
That’s just one of the many books that impacted me because it neatly presented views that weren’t mainstream and made it accessible to the same people I’ve preached to for years
It made my graduate experience easier to have my colleagues and cohort reading this and validating many of the stances I’ve taken that weren’t substantiated until this book came out
