Wednesday

What dream has God called you to? Martin Luther King Jr. isn’t the only one with a dream. God has called you to a dream, a vision, a purpose much bigger than you could ever imagine.

The word of the Lord came to me, saying,

5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,

    before you were born I set you apart;

    I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:4-5

You have a dream. It may be dormant. It may not be revealed to you. You may think you’ve lost it or squandered it, but you haven’t. God has a high calling on your life. You may be an accident. Your parents might have told you that you were a ‘surprise.’ But God knew you even before he formed you in the womb.

He knew you. He set you apart, and appointed you to a task, a dream, a vision, an assignment. Jeremiah was called to be a prophet, to be a medium through which God spoke to the world. What’s your dream? It may not be a dream to change the world. It may be a dream to change your neighborhood, change your city. It may be a dream to care and love those on the margins of society. It may be a dream to leverage your natural gifts and talents to help those in need. It may be a dream to work in a small dusty village somewhere, far out of the spotlight of the world.

If you don’t know what your dream is, pursue the presence of God until you know what it is. Once you know what it is, never, ever, ever, let go of it. Before you were born, before you were even formed in your mother’s womb, God called you to something. He set you apart. Never forget that.
