February was a great month to push through. I had a couple of things that took me out for a couple of days, and I had some long conversations with my body about perseverance. Probably didn’t hit as many goals as I wanted, but I’m pushing through and proud for it.
Mental Growth
1. Read 26 books and write a review on it (on my blog) with lessons learned. I started several books but only finished one (note to self: when publishers send you free copies of books, that might be because they’re poorly written). The great book I finished was The Great Evangelical Recession by John S. Dickerson.
2. Listen to 150 podcasts/sermons and keep notes of what I’ve learned (via Evernote). 11 podcasts in February. A mix of Andy Stanley and Perry Noble.
3. (re)Memorize the Book of John. Got most of Chapter 3 finished.
Spiritual Growth
4. Write out the Book of Proverbs by hand. Chapters 3 and 4 written out. Enjoying this exercise.
5. Read the Old Testament one time and the New Testament four times. I’ve read every day in February. Through Deuteronomy in the Old Testament and Galatians (first time) in the New Testament.
6. Log a solid week (168 hours) in prayer (quality time is found in the midst of quantity time). 3 hours and 50 minutes in February. This was one that suffered. I found that spending too much time bent down causes my body some incredible pain, so I’ve adjusted my goal to time spent in prayer.
Personal Growth
7. Blog 150 times to share what I’m learning about life (I always learn better when I’m teaching it to someone else). I’ve also adjusted this goal from 250 down to 150. One of the things I’ve tried to create in February is a sustainable pace, so three blogs a week is much more sustainable than 5 blogs a week.
8. Write an ebook. Not yet, but I’ve got the genesis of an idea for the book. Now I’m beginning to research the topic through Scripture.
9. Miss out on 2 weeks of sleep (336 hours) to accomplish my goals (getting up 1.5 hours early most days). 25 hours in February. Who needs sleep?
Physical Growth (Health)
10. Log in one solid week of exercise (168 hours). 6 hours in February. Definitely need to work on that.
11. Do 50,000 pushups in 2013. 2,075 pushups in February
12. Meet minimum requirements for Army boot camp once a month (to wage spiritual war I need to be in good physical health). Qualified in February.
