NLQ Question of the Week: Why Are Women Isolated?

QuestionoftheweekThis is a series we run every Thursday. The questions are things that people who may not know much about the Quiverfull movement or even Fundamentalist or Evangelical Christianity ask about the lifestyle. Examining some of the questions involving Quiverfull theology and life can only shine a light on the toxic nature of this lifestyle choice.

A theme that keeps popping up in many Quiverfull blogs is that of isolating women. You cannot go to Bible studies or prayer groups because you’re ignoring your children or your home, or you might be gossiping it is claimed, along with a bunch of other reasons. What do you think is driving all this insistence on isolating women? Are they afraid that once women leave the home for any reason that they might be influenced to think for themselves and discover they might have been sold a lie? Is the outside world threatening for some other reason? What do you think?
