Once upon a time, one a chilly Saturday morning, I ventured out to hit a few community yard sales with coffee in hand. I came up to a garage and almost dropped my cherished java. It was burlap and milk glass yumminess for days! A sweet little gal was selling leftovers from her wedding that she had just celebrated. I instantly scooped all the goodies up and noticed this window she had leaning up against the side wall. She used... Read more

My guest bathroom was the blah, painter’s grade cream that came with our house.  I also used all our old grey trimmings that we’ve had for years.  BLAND and BLAH!  I love perusing the oops paint section at our big box store and found a can of this! It was a nice creamy beige that would add that *something* to our guest bath. First we taped off stripes and painted with the new paint. Tip: put an X on the... Read more

I discovered a brilliant artist on Olioboard.  His name is Dolan Geiman and I love his contemporary artwork using different mediums.  However, on my shoestring budget, I couldn’t afford the print I wanted SO bad.  I think the original was over $600. This piece is called “Perched Bird Art Print on Paper, Bluebird.” I found his reprints on etsy, but still the price was too steep for me, so I thought, how can I recreate what he captured so beautifully?  I... Read more

I absolutely love these topiaries from Ballards Designs, but I can’t afford them at $50 a pop, so I searched for a thrifty way to copy and make some of my own.  On a recent garage sale jaunt, I found these rose covered topiaries for $3. I thought they would be perfect to make a topiary of my own, so I went to town – plucked the roses until each topiary was bare. I found these boxwood balls for $3... Read more

My youngling LOVES Star Wars.  He sings John Williams’ score as he plays, knows every character, and even named our Beta fish after a planet (he’s red – thusly named Mustafar – aka Moose). After finishing my other son’s room, we had to keep our promise to our other boy to give him his dream room.  We used the left over mistinted paint from our other boys room for the top  color and purchased the bottom color (Valspar Asteroid) and the navy (Valspar... Read more

Have you ever had a piece of furniture in your house that you really didn’t like? I finally had reached my limit with my Dining Room Table.  It had grooves all across the top – you know the kind that leave you with permanent marks on your forearms for hours? Yeah, kind of like that! And y’all – let me tell you, it didn’t work well with two messy boys eating. I had to carve out their crumbs with... Read more

So, I’ve become a bit of a junker over the past few months. Inspired by other bloggers, I was on a quest to quell this creative beast inside me! A few months ago, I stumbled upon a HUGE community yard sale. I hit about 60 homes and walked away with tons o goodies!  Here’s one of them. Pink. Flamingo. Y’all! Now some of you may LOOOVE pink flamingos, palm trees and painted boats adrift on the ocean, but I thought... Read more
