Pisces Season: A Modern Witch’s Guide to the Stars February 15, 2023

Are you ready to dream big? Bare minimum, if you’re not already, the sun transitioning into the sign of Pisces on February 18th might provide you with some pretty intense night visions.

As the sun shifts from the detached, innovative sign of Aquarius to the emotionally-charged, imaginative sign of Pisces, our recently acquired ideas may start to take on a whole new life.

Pisces is a dreamy energy that is interested in what is beyond the veil. As such, this sequence of seasons can assist us with coloring our prior breakthroughs by reminding us of our interconnectedness.

New Moon in Pisces:

New Moons occur in conjunction with the sun and, therefore, in the same zodiac sign. As such, this season, the New Moon coincides with the sun in Pisces on February 20th, 2023. In this lunar phase, new moons mark the beginning of a cycle. This phase is a time to set intentions, plant seeds, and lay the foundation for future manifestations.

The energy is ripe with inspiration and creativity when the new moon is in Pisces. In modern astrology, the ruling planet of Pisces is Neptune, which is known as the planet of illusions, imagination, and our subconscious mind. The elusive nature of this sign makes this moon advantageous for leaning into dreamwork, such as lucid dreaming or astral projection.

When the moon is in Pisces, we are more in tune with the energies surrounding us. Pisces is a water sign, and it is connected with our emotions as well as our intuition. Due to this, Pisces energy is a great time to lean into divination to intuit a message from our higher selves.

This emotional energy lends its hand to delve deeper into our subconscious minds. As such, spellwork involving dreams, astral travel, artistic expression, or divination is all particularly successful under this influence.

All Planets Direct:

Can you feel that? That’s the energy of forward motion unrestrained by retrograding planets. Yes, the time is now.

During the year, we are granted a few brief periods where all planets are direct. This is that moment. Until April 2023, all planets are stationed direct. Therefore, rather than being a period of pause, this is the time of action and seeing things through.

While I don’t believe in not making any moves during retrogrades, there is a forward momentum that comes with all planets being direct. Taking advantage of this brief period of time will allow us to make progress in our own lives.

Harnessing this period’s fullest potential requires applying the lessons we learned while the planets were retrograde. Due to this, it’s crucial to have clear goals for this time. We can project this newfound energy into projects that align with our intentions to advance toward our aspirations.

The next retrograde will be Mercury Retrograde in April 2023. So, it’s wise to lean into this energy while it’s present by setting intentions in motion.

Saturn in Pisces:

We have a unique pairing of energies arising during this Pisces Season. Saturn will be moving into the sign of Pisces on March 7th, 2023.

Why is this a unique pairing? Well, Saturn is the planet of restrictions, authority, and discipline, whereas Pisces is the sign of intuition, spirituality, and fluidity. Let’s just say if these two energies were personified, it is highly unlikely we would set them up on a date unless we live by the mantra of “opposites attract.” But still—even then—it’d be a gamble.

Saturn changes signs approximately every two and a half years, so retrogrades aside, it’s been sitting in Aquarius since early 2020. Saturn’s full rotation takes about twenty-nine and a half years to transition through all 12 zodiac signs.

As Saturn is the sign of lessons and limitations, our first Saturn return often marks a transition into solidified adulthood. Saturn comes bearing gifts. (Read: lessons) So, if your natal Saturn is in Pisces, this transition marks your Saturn return. If this is the case, you can expect impending learning experiences throughout this transit.

With Saturn moving into Pisces, we can expect to see some changes regarding the structure of Pisces themes. Matters relating to mysticism, intuition, and creativity will meet the rigid structure of the Saturnian influence. Through this, they will be defined more systematically than we are accustomed to.

While this pairing is unique, it is not without benefits. After all, if we heed Saturn’s advice, we can level up in these arenas by being more conscious of the structures surrounding our spirituality and practices.

Full Moon in Virgo:

Pisces Season will always feature a full moon in its sister sign, Virgo. Alongside Saturn transitioning into Pisces, the full moon will occur the same day. As such, this Virgo full moon will be on March 7th, 2023. Full moons are when the moon is most illuminated and, therefore, most potent.

Full moons can be a time when our manifestations come to fruition, but they also provide us with an abundance of energy. So, on the full moon, you do not have to sit by the sidelines waiting for your new moon manifestations. In this phase of the moon, rituals and spellwork can be done proactively.

When the moon enters the sign of Virgo, this is an analytical, organized energy that is a stark contrast to Pisces’ free-flowing energy. Virgo is an earth sign, making this energy one of practicality and groundedness. During this contrasting energy, we may find ourselves able to tap into the creative nature of the Pisces sun with the assistance of the more strategic Virgo moon.

When the moon is in Virgo, this is a time when there is an emphasis on material matters, cleansing, and health. For that reason, this is a fantastic time for spellwork involving cleansing our spaces, advancing our careers creatively, and healing.
