How could I write about peace and love, as the winds of war and terror fill the streets of Israel and the west bank?
I began to write this column a few days ago.
With excitement to share with you how peace has connected me to my heritage’s blessings and prayers.
There was going to be praise Shir Lashalom, “Song for Peace”, one of the most known Israeli songs for peace.
One I have sung since I was a young child.
However, my hands just couldn’t type those informative sentences.
How could I write about peace and love, as the winds of war and terror fill the streets of Israel and the west bank.
Lives were taken, as grief and trauma entered families with no warning.
My mind was continuously distracted by the inquiring messages I was sending to all I love who live there.
David Broza a well-known Israeli singer conveyed in this song the hope for peace.
But then, a known folk Israeli song came to mind.
Actually, it was the song I walked down the aisle to- Yiyhe Tov, “It will be good.”
David Broza a well-known Israeli singer conveyed in this song the hope for peace.
The belief in peace the love of peace.
I stood under our chuppah(canopy) with my beloved in Israel exactly 45 years ago.
The message of peace and love stood there with me.
Time has passed, and the pains of yesterdays wars continue to renew themselves over and over again in my precious homeland.
However, this song continues to play, to be sung.
The desire for peace is ingrained in the hearts of so many people.
Both Israelis and Palestinians that live under the clouds of terror, guns and rockets.

For hope is a necessity, I mustn’t stand in her way.
I have my moments when prayers, blessings and song filled with peace, can not erase my worry and despair.
Yet in days like yesterday and today, when tears of grief and sorrow fill the skies above.
And cries of fearful children can be heard in this most precious land.
I choose a moment of hope.
For hope is a necessity, I mustn’t stand in her way.
If we lose our hope, I say, we lose the chance to taste a moment of peace, a moment of love.
So today, before I returned to my keyboard, I listened to the lyrics David Broza so sweetly sings.
And the notes of peace and hope played so gently in my soul.
I pray for all the wounded to heal quickly and the grievers to be comforted.
Also, for the soldiers to return home peacefully, all the children to sleep with no fear.
I pray with every inch of my being for all people in Israel to be embraced by loving peace.
