Israel’s Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu petrified of going to jail for crimes he committed, initiated the biggest war on Israel since 1948.
Yesterday was a very dark moment for the state of Israel.
I knew for weeks, or perhaps as long as I had been demonstrating in the name of democracy(29 weeks straight) in New York and Tel-Aviv it would most probably happen.
But the pain, rage and oceans of tears still felt like a strong punch in the stomach, when the undemocratic judicial overhaul plan was passed.
It reminded me of something I tell the families I guide at the end of life.
You can prepare for a loved one’s passing, but when it happens the pain of grief is like no other.
Israel’s Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu petrified of going to jail for crimes he committed, initiated the biggest war on Israel since 1948, the year of Israel’s Independence.
A coalition made up of criminals, terrorists and power-hungry individuals promised Bibi a way to stay free.
He was willing to let them restrict freedom for the citizens of Israel, in return, he would receive an out of jail card.
The echo of hope could be heard in the streets of Israel.
I am not a politician nor a prophet.
However, I am a strong believer in the power of hope.
I marched in a spontaneous rally last night after the horrific law was passed with hundreds of Israelis in Tel-Aviv.
It was 94 degrees, the air was thick, and we had all gone through a very difficult day.
Yet we chose to take to the street as warriors.
Fighting for the existence of a free democratic Jewish state.
In between the words of anger and tears of sadness, singing voices demanding democracy could be heard.
This was the echo of hope.
Even in the darkest of moments hope can show up.
Even in the darkest of moments hope can show up.
My faith in the determination of all who have been rallying for over 7 months is proof.
As tears rolled down the faces of so many in the last two days, plans for the battles that await were being made.
They won’t be easy.
Hope is about making something better.
With this massive awakening by the majority of the Israel public hope lives.
In the midst of despair hope will lead the citizens of Israel to a new era of democracy, peace and equality for all citizens of Israel.
