Woodstock, New York
Walk, hop, skip, jump, or roll. Woodstock, New York is for everyone.
While some people have the opportunity to travel abroad or to another state, there are individuals who, for different reasons, are unable to leave their own state. Nonetheless, “Many local destinations are still available for exploration.” Woodstock is easy to get to and offers great enjoyment.
Walking through Woodstock, New York with my travel companion marked my fourth visit to this charming town. I think Woodstock is one of the top destinations in upstate New York. And, despite the influx of visitors from all directions, including NYC, the town never feels too crowded. It maintains its quaint charm, offering excellent food and something for everyone.
Discover an array of charming vintage stores like 3 Turtle Doves, offering unique treasures waiting to be found. Explore bohemian clothing boutiques, wander through intriguing bookstores, and browse through a delightful collection of goods from Nepal, which happens to be our personal favorite. The town of Woodstock also offers a variety of dining options at cozy cafes and inviting restaurants.
In addition to its charming atmosphere, Woodstock also features a quirky curiosity shop offering all sorts of unique and unusual items. You can also explore a couple of new age shops with a variety of crystals and friendly tarot readers who are ready to unveil the secrets of your future. Woodstock, NY is a vibrant little hub for enjoyable events, lively celebrations, and even peaceful protests. Also, one can engage in workshops and join outdoor drum circles that welcome all who seek to participate.
One of the best cafes we have ever been to is Bread Alone. They have healthy and delicious bread, sandwiches, salads, oatmeal and beverages. It is usually our first stop on our Woodstock adventure.
In addition, just off in the distance we can see the mountain a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery sits peacefully upon. On top of the mountain there is also an extraordinary trail for hiking or meditating. The Low-hanging clouds create a picturesque view, almost the ideal place of peace. Karma Triyana Dharmachakra (kagyu.org) offers classes throughout the year.
Woodstock is undoubtedly one of my favorite places to visit, year-round.
