What comes to mind when you read the word "animal"? Where are you in relation to that? Most human cultures have a view that makes us separate from animals, that says we are better than animals. Those cultures that have a more nuanced view of animals that take a stance that is closer to kin are also guilty of seeing humans as more important. I believe that this is damaging to these animals and to ourselves. Not just in one-on-one relations, but on our ecosystem on a global scale. Read more
