Quick Takes #9 Boredom Edition

Quick Takes #9 Boredom Edition

I am anything but organized this week, so these random quick takes will truly be very random.

1.
My 5 MONTH OLD is crawling. Well, maybe not actually crawling, but she pushes herself with her feet and pulls herself with her hands and gets to anywhere she wants to go with amazing speed. She looks like an inchworm with her little butt wiggling across the floor. I am stunned. I thought I had at least another month. How is it possible that I have to put up all the gates and get back to constantly sweeping up delectable bits of dried up food and bits of paper off of my floor.

2.
I love to cook, I always have tons of ideas. I make menus. I try new recipes. But lately food has been boring to me. I mosey into my kitchen at about 4:30 and think “Hmmm, maybe I should defrost something”. And then I make spaghetti, or tacos. Again. (I would make pizza every night, but my hubby wouldn’t appreciate it.) I’m totally blaming it on the weather, when you haven’t been able to open your windows in months, you lose brain cells.

(My favorite homemade pizza)

3.
I feel like I am coming out of a hazy dream. This is the first week I haven’t been sick this month. I am still pleasantly surprised when food actually smells good (on second thought, this could explain my lack of ideas in the kitchen) and I am almost caught up with cleaning. I want to air out the house so bad, that I might just bundle everyone up and open the windows for a bit today, despite the sub-zero temps.

4.
My winter is going to last at least 2 more months, so if anyone has ideas for surviving cold and boredom, please share.

5.
I have been sorting through my house and de-cluttering. I’ve whittled down our clothing, and I am going through all that stuff that I was going to use “someday”. Remember I did that post on “Cool stuff at my house“? I’m considering a “Stuff I gave away since it was useless” post.

6.
My husband doesn’t understand why I found this so incredibly funny, maybe some of you moms will.

7.
I wish, that I could have a week where each day I had someone over to hang out with me and keep the kids from destroying stuff while I finished my de-cluttering (which has been happening at an absolute snails pace) and deep cleaned a few things, and finished my almost 2-year-old’s baby scrapbook, and organized my pictures and my writing, and got a massage. (I threw that last one in since I might as well make it perfect while I’m imagining, and while I’ve never had a massage, it sounds as though they would definitely enhance perfection.)
