If you’re attempting to sing hymns in the style of a popular music genre, you’re singing contemporary songs with old words. Forcing hymns into a commercial pop style, and one that does not marry well with the text, does not usually make for effective congregational singing. Here is one example, although I’m most distracted by the flippant words and actions of the lead singer. (“Is everybody feeling good?” “We’re gonna have a lot of fun!” Really?!?)
