Philip P. Bliss wrote of lot of things besides the VILLA DU HAVRE hymn tune, which you know to be “It Is Well with My Soul.” A number of his hymns are completely outdated or simply make no sense out of their historical context, like “Hold the Fort” or “Let the Lower Lights Be Burning.” Others have found a place in Baptist hymnody for nearly 200 years. This is one of his finest.
