Boy am I still in a horribly dull stupor. Its kind of a relief that the sun isn't shining because then I would feel like I should stand up and take a walk or something. Anyway, we survived the week. Really, in the most strange way, it was probably one of the best Holy Weeks we've celebrated in an awfully long time. But also, I worked a lot harder than I usually do, which is always an unwelcome surprise. Know how, and this is a thing of motherhood, you think you've come to the end, you've done all you can humanly do, and you're going to collapse, because that's all there is, there isn't any more of you, and then it turns out that, no, there is a little more. There's something else you have to do, and, Surprise, you can do it, maybe not humanly, but the grace of God stretches a little bit farther. If you're a good person this experience makes you happy and increases your love for Jesus and his grace more. If you're evil, like me, you mutter and complain at God and wish he wouldn't make you extend quite so far. Still. Providence. Its basically a good thing.
So, it was a beautiful week. Service upon service. Line of scripture upon line of scripture. Light upon light. Here a little, there a little.
And, feel free to check out here. These are mostly for the grandparents, and for people who might be inclined to judge me unfavorably, and say mean things like, 'boy what a mess she is, why can't she get it together.' If you are one of those then keep reading Sucka, because the partying and the nice things just went on and on and on and on and on and on and on…..
Thursday was a little dying of some eggs.
What's six times twelve? Its a lot of eggs. Mercifully, for me, we were able to give a whole bunch of them away. And then a bunch were eaten yesterday.
And here's the careful preparation of Easter Dessert I happened to thoughtfully procure on one of my two Wegmans sojournings. This is what's called A Cake. It comes in this special and sparkly package and you lather it with lemon curd. But that comes later.
So here you can see that by late Saturday Evening we were ready for The Great Feast. The table, the clothes, the flowers, the crystal, the beating back of Elphine's Cat who wanted to walk over everything and spoil it all.
The Vigil, not entirely without a hitch, but not any big enough incident so that you would be unable to keep your mind and heart fixed on such a great Salvation. No pictures because, what, I'm not that together. I can't sing and process and hold a kid and light candles and take pictures. “Why didn't you take any pictures?” Matt accused.
“Why didn't you?” I riposted. And so the long day wore on.
But Sunday Morning! Definitely pictures.
Observe the big circles, the sallow skin, the wan half closed eyes. SO TIRED. But so determined to party.
And the necessary picture in hopes that I can get something good for the top of my blog. Except this year it was a total bust because everyone was too happy. Stupid kids. They Did Not pull it off.
The Sad Look was a failure and so was the Mean Angry Look.
So we're stuck with Basically Pleasant and me having nothing for my blog. Guess I'll have to take some more pictures. Sniff.
And then the going to church in the Easter Snow.
And lilies that opened at the last minute.
A lovely baptism, for which I have no pictures. And a charming Sunday School where, when the children were gathering, seeing the Empty Tomb material, some exclaimed to each other, Oh! I Love This Lesson! And then fights breaking out about how the stone was rolled away. And best of all, Romulus, discovering that he will get his own body back in the resurrection, being gravely concerned as to the resurrection of his clothes. Will I have these very clothes? Because if not, I'll need to come back to earth and find them, he said.
Searching for eggs in the church because we are so weary of the snow.
Is she giving or taking away? Hmm.
And then dinner.
Lemon Curd with Blackberries and Blueberries.

Italian Apple Cake lathered in Carmel because of Elphine forgetting to include sugar.

So a Happy Easter to you All! Who knows whether I shall be online the rest of the week or not.
If not, have a lovely week!
