Matt was away for a couple of days. I would have said before but I didn't feel like telling the Internet that I and the children were here all by ourselves, because I'm a coward. I mean, I know the boys have had a month of MMA and I've got Matt's trusty Tuareg sword here under the bed, and, as the children daily remind me, his replica of some famous sword. The little girls like to explain to all and sundry that Matt used it to fight some incredible battle. And we are all more safe now than we were 100 years ago. But also, the Internet.
So anyway, took advantage of him being away for 30 hours to brighten up the bathroom.
I knew he'd definitly want me to paint the bathroom because even though he says he loves the orange more than anything in life, I know he's lying just to irritate me. So I knew he'd be delighted. And I know all the recriminations, when he got home, were just his way of telling me how much he loves it.
That's what marriage is. Giving selflessly for the sake of the beloved. Doing what you know will bring them the greatest ultimate and long term happiness.
As a thank you for this lovely gift, he woke me up at 5am, presumably so I could write on my book, because he knows I've been sleeping in and not writing.
So there you are. I hope you are encouraged by the strength of our love. We're just like that couple that prayed before they got married. In fact, some day, I bet they're going to come to us for encouragement.
Have a lovely day. And later I will have a picture of a bird.
