Matt just walked into the room and inquired, most solemnly, when Father’s Day is. Because nothing makes a holiday nicer than having to stop and think about the one that comes after. So, I was going to do this later in the weekend, closer to the actual Sacred Moment, but the time for my annual I Hate Mother’s Day post was practically upon us anyway and so I might as well leap in three days early. Truly, it is a... Read more

Think I’ve forgotten how to blog. Was sure this was going to happen when I looked at the various tasks before me all those months ago and decided I needed better people than me to come and post here for a while. The Main Thing is that I’m so grateful to have IRL friends and to know the kinds of people who think about things well enough to write them down. Which, I always think, is the point of writing–to... Read more

This morning I’m delighted to introduce you to Andrea who blogs at Goldfish Crumbs Under the Table. And her ETSY shop is here. If you want to get hooked on Catechesis and see what it can look like at home, you’ll want to bookmark her page. Plus, her babies have the most amazing cheeks ever. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So there I was going through Lent, trying to cultivate a heart of Joyfulness. I know, it’s kind of a weird Lenten discipline,... Read more

The meme of being too tired to think continues apace so it is in that spirit that we offer this scintillating discussion about the evils of liturgical dancing. It is a deeply pressing matter for the church and I think we make a good case for why it should never happen. No links today :( except just this one important video that proves liturgical dance is very bad. Love yall! Links later in the week. Pip pip. Read more

Looks like we survived the synod. When I left the church yesterday afternoon everyone was still standing and many people were even smiling. So that’s quite extraordinary. I spent much of yesterday  weeping because, in the completeness of my fatigue, I put my contact in my eye with the wrong solution–a sensation rather like setting the wretched thing on fire. It still hurts. And it looks Amazing–Anne of the Bright Red Eye. Truly, I have nothing else to say. Even... Read more

I am delighted this morning to have Kit, who blogs at Pepper in Transition, talking about the giving and receiving of advice. Kit is awesome in her own right but is kind of eclipsed right now by the incredible big eyes of her baby who must somehow stepped out of the pages of the Lord of the Rings. Also, she’s been carrying him around on her back all Synod which is arrestingly adrobs….. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Like so many other trains of... Read more

In my hide bound way I was really wanting to post this on Saturday, which is when I talk about books, but it doesn’t signify that everyone else has to talk about them on that day, so I’m going to be all relaxed and amazing and flexible and Totally Doing New Things and introduce you to my friend Laura. She blogs at Pinecone Perfections and is my Spirit Catechist. Not only is she lovely with children, she makes the most... Read more

This morning I’m totally delighted to have my friend Liz who blogs at Thrift and Vice and who is mean and sarcastic and butiful–in other words, the ideal modern woman. Enjoy! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Death Comes To All. In case you didn’t know. by Liz Hull First, thank you to Anne Kennedy, who bravely has allowed me to write a post for her prestigious blog this week. I am nobody and generally write for nobody, so this is quite exciting! Second, let... Read more

In a remarkable and uncharacteristic moment of forethought, I looked down the corridor of time and thought to myself, ‘I might not be able to blog well that week,’ and so provided for myself a slate of blogging friends who would not only pick up my slack but would enrich and better your lives. As I like to say, I’m a giver not a taker. The people who are going to blog here this week are all essential to me... Read more

Good Moaning Ya’ll. Woke up extra early and recorded an uber long podcast about what’s going on in the Anglican world with a side of why it matters for other Christians. We say so many things you’ll probably be amazed. Or wish that we had found something else to do, it could probably go either way. Ok, Links. Let’s see, first up, here is some of the minutiae that we roil on about in the podcast. Here is the Truro... Read more
