Pope Francis is now in the holding room with the Speaker of the House, waiting to go into the chamber. I have no doubt that he’s a bit surprised by how small the facility really is. It looks bigger on television.

It appears that Speaker Boehner is talking about his tie. It’s tough at any time, making small talk.
The press has been sent away now and the Speaker and the Pope has a chance to talk about something other than the Speaker’s tie.
I’m watching MSNBC, but I’m going to switch it off. Chris Matthews is yakkity-yakking, which means that the level of commentary has dropped exponentially from yesterday. He’s giving us the straight D party-line cant on religious freedom.
I switched off FOX and stayed away all day yesterday when they read George Will’s screed. Maybe I’ll try them again. Or maybe, I’ll just watch CSPAN.
