Pope Leo Says End World Hunger. MAGA Objects. 2025-07-07T11:31:44-06:00

@Vatican Media

Pope Leo called for an end to “the global scandal of hunger.” He went on to denounce the use of starvation as a weapon of war. He called starving people to death a “cheap way to wage war.”

That should be an obvious truth to any decent person. If Jesus Christ is your Lord, it should be a call to do whatever you can to stop the malicious starvation of millions of people that is taking place in our world. But not in today’s America.

Christianity in this country is dominated by the false MAGA “gospel.” The only internet reaction I saw to Pope Leo’s comments were from bitter MAGA “christians” who denounced him for being “political” when he said that starving people to death is wrong.

I suppose there is a symmetry to this, considering that one of the Trump’s first moves after he took office last January was to end America’s food aid to starving people. This includes large numbers of people who will absolutely starve to death because of what he did.

I wasn’t at all surprised to see Trump’s wackadoo followers condemn the Pope for speaking against world hunger. I know a lot of MAGA and they are so besotted with Trump they remind me of the girls in Charley Manson’s family back in the 60s. Anything Trump says, they believe it. Anything he does, they support it. Anything he tells them to do, they will do it.

Would MAGA “christians” support Trump starving people to death? Well, yes, they would. They actually are supporting him doing that right now.

The greed-is-good, lying-is-truth, truth-is-lies crowd is in control of our churches and our country.

So, I was not surprised to see Trump’s MAGA faithful denouncing Pope Leo when he called for an end to deliberately starving people to death. It didn’t surprise me a bit to see MAGA come out in favor of world hunger.

One of their false messiah’s first actions when he took office was to shut down food aid to starving people. And I never heard one single MAGA bishop, priest, or preacher take him to task for doing it.

I for sure never heard one of the many MAGA faithful that I know personally object to it.

Do you see why I say MAGA is satanic and Trump is evil? His evil infects people and makes them as evil as he is.

MAGA is death. Nothing makes that more clear than the simple fact that one of the very first things Trump did after he took power was to stop supplying food to starving people.

If the people whose comments I saw think our Holy Father is “political” because he condemns using starvation as a weapon against the poor and helpless, they would really be enraged by Isaiah, Micah, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Hosea, the Psalms, Proverbs, Peter, John, James and Jesus Christ the Lord.

They’d have a total meltdown over the teachings of Pope Francis, Pope Benedict, Pope John Paul, Pope John XXIII, the previous Pope Leos, and so on and so forth on back to Peter and before him, to Jesus Himself.

Pope Leo is a Christian. He is the Pope. He is Peter. It’s his anointing to tell us how the teachings of Christ apply in our daily lives.

Deliberately starving people to death is indeed a cheap way to wage war. Cutting off aid and allowing people to starve to death so you can feed the gluttonous greed of 813 American billionaires is, or it should be, anathema to anyone who claims they are a Christian.

From Vatican News:

Pope said the Church supports all efforts to end the “scandal of global hunger,” recalling Jesus’ care to feed the crowds who had come to hear Him speak.

“We realize that the true miracle accomplished by Christ was to show that the key to defeating hunger lies more in sharing than in greedily hoarding,” he said.

Many people, he lamented, still suffer cruelly and yearn for their needs to be met, as hunger and malnutrition continue despite the excess production in certain parts of the world.

“We are now witnessing, with deep sorrow, the inhumane use of hunger as a weapon of war,” said the Pope. “Starving civilian populations is a very cheap way to wage war.”

Most conflicts are now fought by armed civilian groups instead of regular armies, he added, pointing out that tactics like burning crops and blocking humanitarian aid weigh heavily on defenseless civilians.

When conflict breaks out, farmers are unable to sell their produce and inflation skyrockets, leading millions of people to suffer from famine and food insecurity.

Pope Leo called for the international community to take action and set clear boundaries so that perpetrators are held accountable.

“Political crises, armed conflicts, and economic disruptions play a central role in worsening the food crisis,” he said. “They hinder humanitarian aid, undermine local agricultural production, and deprive people not only of access to food, but also of the right to live a life of dignity and opportunity.”

Selfishness and indifference, added the Pope, must be set aside …

“The social injustice caused by natural disasters and biodiversity loss,” he said, “must be reversed.”

He called for … coordinated climate action in a spirit of solidarity, since our world’s resources must be employed so that everyone is guaranteed food security and nutritious diets.

Pope Leo XIV lamented that “questionable ideologies are being promoted … Pope Leo invited everyone to be “artisans of peace, working for the common good” by setting aside sterile rhetoric and engaging with the issue of hunger with firm political will.

“To achieve this noble goal,” he said, “I wish to assure you that the Holy See will always serve … the common good … especially with regard to those … who suffer from hunger and thirst.”
