4.) Old Folks Make Us Feel Shitty For Supporting Candidates We Actually Like

Have you heard of Dr. Jill Stein? She is the Green Party’s nominee for POTUS, and she has been aggressive in outreach towards disappointed Bernie Sanders supporters, touting her impressive platform that in many respects is even more progressive than Bernie’s was.

How about Gary Johnson? He is a former Republican and the current nominee for the Libertarian Party. It might seem strange that uber-liberal millennials would support a libertarian, but then again, a lot of us were also big fans of Ron Paul (although not I personally). Something we seem to value more than other generations is honesty and integrity, and whatever you think of the libertarian platform, you must admit they have an ideological purity and loyalty to their beliefs that the GOP is completely devoid of.

But those of us who are naturally seeking out alternatives to the two detested main-party candidates are looked down upon, or else coerced into falling back in line. We’re “spoilers” (or sometimes “spoiled”), or we’re “sore losers,” or we’re “idiots,” or we’re “helping Trump.”

It’s all a load of crap. The two-party trap will never end unless more people are willing to stand up for a third party. Aside from that, democracy literally only works if people actually vote their interests. Many of us feel that neither Clinton nor Trump properly represents our interests.

If you want us to vote for your candidate, maybe don’t belittle us for having independent thoughts? Thanks.
