Podcast Sunday: Doug Pagitt

Podcast Sunday: Doug Pagitt

untitled (2)This week’s Podcast Sunday features Doug Pagitt: leader of the Emergent Church movement, pastor, author, and convener. Doug seeks to be a goodness conspirator & possibility evangelist who finds reative, entrepreneurial and generative ways to enlist people to join in the hopes, dreams, and desires of God for the world. He is the pastor of Solomon’s Porch in Minneapolis (a place I have been and HIGHLY recommend visiting if you are in MN!), speaks and writes about spirituality, leadership and the OPEN Network – a collective seeking to bring about a just and generous Christianity.

In this episode Mark and Doug open by discussing the time a very conservative interviewer attempted to paint Doug into an “orthodoxy corner” about the issue of who goes to heaven and who goes to hell, and how Doug handled the interaction. They go on to talk about the nature of belief, and Doug and breaks down the difference between what we believe and how we hold our beliefs. He also gives a thumbnail sketch of the Emergence movement and some of the criticisms it has come under since its inception.

If you have ever been made to feel you aren’t “orthodox enough”, you’ll find this episode enlightening and inspiring.
