Crossfit 90 Day Challenge — Day 3

Crossfit 90 Day Challenge — Day 3 2014-08-22T15:47:36-05:00

**I’m blogging about the 90 day challenge for my gym, WTFCrossFit. If you’re in the area, check us out!**

I beat my 13 year old son at push ups last night. Smoked him. He was working on his physical fitness merit badge for Boy Scouts and was whining about how hard push ups were to do.

“I’ll do them with you,” I challenged him. “See if you can keep up with your old mom.”

He couldn’t. Not even close.

I’ve only been working out since February 13th and I’m already stronger than my teenage son. I’m a little bit in shock. I won’t even lie about it. I have this picture in my head of myself as the chubby mom. When I think of my body, I think of those stupid rolls of back fat that bubble out from under my bra. Those stupid rolls that were almost gone this morning when I looked for them in the mirror.

I’m not that mom today, the slightly pudgy one. I may be again. (Let’s be honest, I’m a new baby away from being back at square one.) But I’m not today. Today I am strong and my arms are aching from the burpees I actually could do this morning without stepping them. These are burpees:

and I can do them! I can’t do a lot of them, but I can do them.

That’s all I want from this challenge: I want to be strong. I want to be healthy. I want to have enough energy to be able to have fun, because having to stop playing with the kids to catch my breath is not the mom I want to be.

What am I eating today? Avocado salad for lunch

1 ripe avocado diced
1 or 2 Roma tomatoes diced
a drizzle of olive oil
fresh basil
salt and pepper to taste.

Yum!

Thanks to my friend Carolyn who told me to try avocados this way and showed me that I really do like them after all.
