Crossfit 90 Day Challenge — Days 9 & 10

Crossfit 90 Day Challenge — Days 9 & 10 2015-01-13T09:32:25-05:00

**I’m blogging about the 90 day challenge for my gym, WTFCrossFit. If you’re in the area, check us out!**

I overslept yesterday morning and missed my class. I woke up at 5:00 and thought “I can get another hour’s sleep easily.” and the next thing I knew, I was waking up at 7:00. Say what you want about being up with a sick and cranky baby and maybe I needed the rest…it doesn’t matter …my whole day was weird. I went through the morning with 5 times the energy level I’m used to having. It wasn’t purposeful at all. I just paced around the downstairs, picking things up and setting them down.

I texted my coach and asked if I could do a make-up at the 4:30 time slot. He said “Of course.”

I’m not even going to lie. 4:30 was hard. I had already worked during the day, so there wasn’t a lot left to put into an hour workout. It was the first time I’ve ever felt like puking when working out. Hot, muggy, exhausted. It was rough. The workout itself didn’t help – 100 pull-ups, 100 push ups, 100 squats, and 100 sit ups. There’s a reason all the workouts are named after women. They’re a b*&$@.

This morning was better.

I rolled out of bed at 6:00, sore but ready to go. This morning we had the dreaded box jumps (still too scared to do them) and double unders (can’t do those either.)

These are double unders:

You whip the jump rope under your feet twice on every jump. I’m not there today. Yet.

It’s the birthday of one of the coaches today. I’m making a paleo chocolate cake for him with a chocolate bacon ganache. I’ve never made ganache before, so I’ll let you know how it turns out.

One nice bonus of all this CrossFit stuff is the nice side business I’m getting in Paleo baking. Who knew there was a need?

***Edited to add – The cake turned out great! I snuck a bite and it tasted like dark chocolate cake, and not like a “healthy chocolate cake.”

Here it is:

Some day I will master food photgraphy and it will look as good in pictures as it does in person. Until then you’ll just have to trust me. It was pretty.
