Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

I’ve been reading scathing reviews of this movie for the past week, but I saw it over a week ago and, for the most part, I enjoyed it. I guess with this positive movie review, I truly am a federation army of one:

Take Me Back: Star Wars – The Clone Wars Review

A long time ago, I left a galaxy far, far away. It wasn’t a conscious choice; I had all the souvenirs–action figures, model sets and even a talking alarm clock that had R2-D2 waking me up for school every morning. I can still hear him and C-3PO arguing about how best to get me out of the bed.

But somewhere through the years, I lost touch with this world. Its creator, George Lucas, didn’t help. He promised me a return trip back with the prequels, which launched about a decade ago. But the world I’d grown to love had lost its excitement and fun in these new movies and been replaced by a conflicted and whiny hero. You’re telling me that the villain of my childhood, whose helmet I wore trick-or-treating, became that monster of hate because of an inflated ego problem?

So it’s with great pleasure I report that Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a computer-animated offering bridging the gap between Episodes 2 and 3, is a fun trip back to that world I originally loved. Gone is the whiny hero, replaced by light-saber yielding warrior who doesn’t even hint of a turn to the dark side. It was even a relief to my eyes to know it’s all supposed to look animated, without being reminded of the prequels with live humans walking around.
