First Look: ‘Testament: The Story of Moses’ Netflix Series March 6, 2024

The three-part series examines the life of the biblical hero through dramatic recreations and insightful commentary. At first glance, the series looks fascinating as it brings to life Moses’ story, much in the same way “The Chosen” has done with the life of Christ. “Testament,” however, seems to use the commentators to dig deeper into the story, offering insight from various areas of expertise. The film segments look memorable and visually engaging.

“Anyone who has seen The Ten Commandments as a child was well aware of the more epic elements of the tale,” producers Emre Sahin and Kelly McPherson told Netflix. “The burning bush, the plagues, Passover, the Red Sea, and, of course, the Ten Commandments. What really drew us in was the mystery of Moses’ inner life, his struggles with his own identity, his self-doubt, his humanness.”

The official synopsis follows:

Testament: The Story of Moses is an epic three-episode series exploring the life of Moses and his rise from outcast and murderer to prophet and liberator of the Hebrews. From the banks of the Nile to Mount Sinai to the Red Sea, Testament seamlessly interweaves gripping docudrama and expert interviews, revealing Moses’ intensely personal quest for redemption—setting in motion some of the most inspiring and iconic events in the Bible, Qur’an and Torah.
