Today is the religion and Doctor Who synchroblog! Here’s what I’m aware of so far on other blogs: Jack Collins has been live-blogging (or live micro-blogging) the Religion and Doctor Who conference at the University of Manchester. I was tempted to call this post something like “Don’t accept a slippery slope argument unless it is from a geocentrist in an arranged marriage” but that seemed a bit too long for a title. Tom Bolin shared a link on Facebook to a Tumblr page with this observation: DISCOVERY: that the addition of “Harry” to almost any Plato quote makes it seem legitimately like a nugget of wisdom out of the mouth of Albus Dumbledore. “Death is not the worst that can happen to men, Harry.” “Harry, good actions give strength to ourselves and inspire good actions in others.” “He who commits injustice is ever made more wretched than he who suffers it, Harry.”... Read more

Thanks to Sabio Lantz for the image above. This is in keeping with the explicit teaching of the Bible, in Leviticus 19:33, which says “When an alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien.” Read more

For some reason, coming across an echo of George Orwell’s 1984, I found myself thinking about how it is paralleled in the revisionist history that has claimed that religion and science have always been at war. Read more
