Market saturation is a real thing, and if anything in the Evangelical world is moving in that direction it’s Kevin DeYoung’s “Biggest story” franchise. Between the Advent book, board book, storybook, and of course the original Biggest Story, the release of The Biggest Story Holy Bible for Kids has added another product to that line.

That said, it is a good addition! This book brings together the best of children’s Bibles and the best of the Biggest Story work. That leaves us with a book that is a Bible with a clear Biblical theological guide attached–along with some space for notes at the end, attractive plates and, uh, QR codes and, well. Look. We live in the modern world. And I suppose you can’t expect the kids to go for more than a few minutes without picking up their gadget, even if they have a honkin’ big book in their tiny little hands. So why not do the “lemons to lemonade” thing and throw some QR codes into the book so that if they’re going to their devices maybe they’ll at least go somewhere that’s not TikTok?
Okay, that old man rant aside (seriously, why did this need QR codes?), this is an excellent study Bible for kids (I’d say that the suggested 6-12 age range is a good one), and one that would make a great gift or addition to the church library.
