Here are some pictures from The Razzie Awards last Saturday night. It was so much fun. I was so honored to be asked to present the first ever RAZZIE REDEEMER AWARD (to Ben Affleck who didn’t show). See the 5 minute video below. My sister caught my presentation on her iPhone from the mezzanine. There are also links to various online publications that posted articles about the Razzies.
Remember, the Razzies are low budget, not low brow!
The Razzie motto has always been, “Own your bad!” But now with the Redeemer Award there’s room to “Own your good!”
I thought that the best quote from last night’s Oscar’s came from the famous director Frank Capra: “There are no rules in filmmaking, only sins – and the cardinal sin is dullness.” This would apply to why the Golden Raspberry Awards exist, I think. And mediocrity. But having said that, the Razzie Ceremony was anything but dull! My favorite quote came from the opening song, “No one knows how this s * * t – got green lit” and for the most part the awards script avoided such colorful language after, leaving all that to the film critics over at Rotten Tomatoes, highlighting each of the nominated films with salient – and sometimes very funny – verbiage. When I mentioned how appropriate the critics’ quotes were, Razzie Executive Co-Producer (with Mo Murphy), John Wilson, said: “That’s why we love Rotten Tomatoes!”

I was also interviewed by journalists from Japan last week here at our Pauline Book Store (in our chapel) and a local podcaster at the Razzies. There was one TV reporter from KCAL 9 I think. The best people and celebrities were there even if they shall remain anonymous because of their realistic … humility.
