Kerry in Philly

Kerry in Philly September 24, 2004

Just got back from today's John Kerry rally in University City. Big crowd. Big excitement. Good time had by all.

The crowd heard from, among others, Gov. Ed Rendell, Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware and Rep. Joe Hoeffel, who is running for the Senate against Arlen "Ira Einhorn is not a flight risk" Specter. We also heard from the undisputed middleweight champion of the world, Bernard Hopkins — who gave Kerry a pair of boxing gloves.

The rally had an impressive turnout of Penn students, and walking across the campus back to my car afterward I heard many of them discussing something Rendell and Kerry had urged them to consider: registering to vote at their college address.

College students can either register to vote back home, or they can register in the state where they're attending school. Rendell urged the students to register where their vote will matter the most. That's good advice.

So: If you're from New York, but you're going to school at Penn or Villanova, then register to vote in Pennsylvania. If you're from Ohio but you're going to Harvard, then make sure you're registered to vote back home.

Update: Mithras has pictures.
