H – A – Hallelujah

H – A – Hallelujah

We haven't a clue to it all

"H-A-T-R-E-D," Tonio K
"Half Acre," Hem
"Half Asleep," Hem
"Half Asleep," School of Seven Bells
"Half Light, Epoch and Phase," Daniel Amos
"Half the Perfect World," Madeleine Peyroux
"Hallelujah," David Bazan
"Hallelujah," Jeff Buckley
"Hallelujah," Leonard Cohen
"Hallelujah," Allison Crowe
"Hallelujah," Willie Nelson
"Hallelujah," Paramore
"Hallelujah," Rufus Wainwright
"Hallelujah, I Love Her So" The Beatles

I am, as you can probably guess, always looking for even more versions of Leonard Cohen's great song. But if you know of any other versions of Daniel Amos' "Half Light, Epoch and Phase," I'd love to hear those too.

As much as I love "Hallelujah," though, I think we need at least a five year moratorium on its use in soundtracks and especially in TV soundtracks for one-hour dramas that like to end with montages. Yes, it's a beautiful song. Yes, Jeff Buckley's version is even more hauntingly beautiful due to Buckley's untimely tragic death. No, that doesn't mean you get to borrow all the emotional heft of that and claim it for your own because you couldn't think of a more original way of ending an episode of your TV show.
