In the Spring, an independent contractor’s fancy turns to thoughts of taxes

In the Spring, an independent contractor’s fancy turns to thoughts of taxes

The trees in these parts are just barely almost starting to show a hint of green where the leaves will be. Until then, we have forsythia — the first big splash of spring color around here.

For those of us in the gig economy, forsythia are also a portent of doom, because seeing them bust out with the most-yellow yellow of spring also means that it’s almost April 15 and the tax-bill is coming due on the “independent contractor” income we’ve been using to pay our other bills all year.

Which is why this is, I’m afraid, a fundraising post — something I try to avoid doing unless I really need to do it. And right now I really need to do it.

So if you appreciate reading this site, and you’re willing and able to support it with a small contribution, this would be an excellent time to do so through the convenient link at paypal.me/SlacktivistFred.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

As a way of expressing that thanks, I’ve lowered the price for my ebooks The Anti-Christ Handbook Vol. 1 and The Anti-Christ Handbook Vol. 2 to 99 cents. (If anyone knows how to lower that price to zero cents, DM me on Twitter. Amazon says it may take a day or two for the new prices to show up, so if you’re still seeing the higher price, check again tomorrow.)
