Ford, Lee, and Jordan on the Power of Mindset

Ford, Lee, and Jordan on the Power of Mindset January 18, 2024

I’ve always been inspired by Henry Ford’s famous quote.

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t—you’re right.”

Thinking back to times where we’ve accomplished something exceptional – our mindset was the Achilles heel. Believing that we can actually achieve that goal, our mindset fuels our daily efforts towards that goal. Even in the face of adversity along the way, we chose to manifest something exceptional because we wish to be exceptional.

That’s not to say we never had doubts, but we remained steadfast in our mindset. If it we hadn’t, and we approached each day with pessimism, our efforts would be highly affected by our negative mindset. It’s tough to go in and win a big game thinking you’re ultimately going to lose. A similar point was made by Bruce Lee:

“If you think a thing is impossible, you’ll make it impossible. Pessimism blunts the tools you need to succeed.”

In these views, mindset is not only the powerful prerequisite to accomplishing the exceptional, but an ongoing commitment to keep this mindset and stay the course. Michael Jordan said:

“You must expect great things of yourself before you can do them”

Great minds think alike it seems, at least among champions and world changers. While it’s true manifesting something incredible requires action, movement towards something incredible requires an incredible mindset, positivity, and belief.
