We’ve Never Needed Law Enforcement Appreciation Day More

With the media’s constant bashing of police officers, it is time to take a moment to thank our law enforcement for what they do to ensure the security of our Nation — especially as terrorists groups grow even bolder.

In light of the police officer shooting in Philadelphia, Ted Cruz wrote a compelling article for the  National Review  about the vitality of law enforcement appreciation:

These events underscore just how essential our officers are in keeping Americans safe and free. Law enforcement forms a thin but powerful line protecting us not just from violent criminals, but from terrorists on our own soil.

In the case of Garland, Texas, Islamic terrorists could have taken unknown numbers of lives if it were not for the brave traffic officer who stopped their attempted attack. We must thank every officer for their service, not make excuses for the terrorists trying to kill them.

Saturday is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (LEAD). It is an opportunity to stand emphatically with our police forces and to express our gratitude for their bravery, especially in a national climate that has been hostile towards our men and women in blue.

Terrorists consistently threaten our nation, and our law enforcement provides a needed deterrent — without them, the causality toll and then number of attacks would only rise. And while the media has never once been in their shoes, they feel they have the right to pass judgement, and criticize them for doing their job.

The fact that the President backs the media hounds, ‘vilifying’ the very same people who keep his borders intact, is despicable. As organizations like Black Lives Matter assault officers on the inside, there is no chance for a united front to face terrorists

These men and women risk their lives daily for our safety and they need to know they have our support. Although it is no longer LEAD, let this be another day that we rise together in support of officers across the country. We have never needed them more.

I couldn’t have said it better than Ted Cruz:

So today, and every day, let us stand unequivocally with the brave men and women of law enforcement and thank them for their service. And let’s ensure that we remain safe by honoring our blue heroes with the respect and gratitude they deserve.

To law enforcement officers all over the nation — you stand supported, defended, and appreciated.
