Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is known for her extreme left-wing opinions. Heralded as a radical feminist icon, there are very few things we agree on.
But this week, while watching an interview of Justice Ginsburg by Katie Couric, I found some common ground.
We both think Colin Kaepernick’s refusal to stand during the National Anthem is arrogant and idiotic!
The Independent Journal reports on Justice Ginsburg’s comments:
In an interview with Katie Couric of Yahoo! News, Ginsburg said she finds Colin Kaepernick’s protest “dumb and disrespectful.”
The justice added:
“Would I arrest them for doing it? No,” Ginsburg elaborated. “I think it’s dumb and disrespectful. I would have the same answer if you asked me about flag burning. I think it’s a terrible thing to do, but I wouldn’t lock a person up for doing it. I would point out how ridiculous it seems to me to do such an act.”
Couric then asked, “But when it comes to these football players, you may find their actions offensive, but what you’re saying is, it’s within their rights to exercise those actions?”
“Yes,” said Ginsburg. “If they want to be stupid, there’s no law that should be preventive. If they want to be arrogant, there’s no law that prevents them from that. What I would do is strongly take issue with the point of view that they are expressing when they do that.”
When even the most liberal justice on the Supreme Court calls your actions dumb, disrespectful, and arrogant, you know you have gone off the deep end.
As Justice Ginsburg said, Kaepernick’s actions are empty and self-serving and do absolutely nothing to help the cause for which he is supposedly trying to raise awareness. He is making himself look small and ungrateful and he is setting a horrible example for the millions of young people who look up to NFL players.
I love that Justice Ginsburg wasn’t afraid to call him out for his idiocy! We may not agree on much, but I do admire the guts and sass of this lady!
