On a recent tour stop in Mexico City, aging rockers Guns N’ Roses attempted to relive the wild antics of their glory days and dangled a giant Donald Trump piñata on stage and invited fans up to beat it senseless.
The crowd gave a predictable response upon seeing the orange-haired likeness: plenty of boos and various obscenities shouted in Spanish. Video captured lead singer Axl Rose telling his crew to “bring up some people and give them a f***ing stick.”
“Express yourself however you feel,” Rose told them, as he sauntered around the stage. “Go ahead.”
And they did — tearing through the paper mache and throwing the bits into the crowd as the delighted band looked on.
Anti-Trump sentiments have been a staple for this reunion tour with at least one lyric change in their song Civil War so the line reads, “look at the hate we’re breeding / look at the fear Trump’s feeding.”
There’s nothing more poignant than rockers with dad bods shouting their political opinions from the stage. I guess I just don’t have the “patience” for this kind of stuff anymore.
