10. Expensive shacks and soaring rent
Good luck finding an affordable house in California. Even one bedroom, one bath homes can be in the high six-figure range and anything a touch nicer easily goes into the millions. And even then, it’s not always in a desirable neighborhood. For that reason, most are forced to rent and those costs are out of control, too. But hey, $1500 bucks a month might get you a nice 10×10 room all to yourself!
