IS HE STILL TALKING? Not much longer. Thanks for putting up with me- I consider this post a success if some of these thoughts were able to help some of you.
If anyone was bothered by my dealing with metaphorical devils and not literal ones, yes, the theology we seek to practice here at Steel Mag does acknowledge the literal kind of devil. But we believe that literal devils are likely not up to the sort of things those most fascinated by them might guess. Mostly, I suspect, they want us to dwell on the parts of ourselves that are entangled in the sins discussed here, that is, the parts of us that most resemble them. (Although it could be they like us making lurid speculations about their activities too. Of course there are encounters of the more dramatic kind- or at least the occasional believable account of such, mixed in with all the sensational ones. You are likely to know a more substantial encounter with the demonic if you see it. I know of no profit in looking for such. The daily work of repentance and virtue-building is the spiritual warfare most of us need, most of the time.
