Charity! There are two ways it would be convenient to go wrong here- to mistake charity as “gifting” to those in need (which is actually matter of justice, not gifting or charity- confusing the two would make this virtue beyond the reach of those who are themselves in need) or to try to take the in the whole scope of Christian love and leave behind our present context of everyday temptations and their antidotes. At an everyday level I most often fail in charity at the level of meeting the annoyance and chaos of each day with patience and with generosity of spirit. I achieve this form of charity (a kind of minimum measure of overall charity) when I am placing time, energy or whatever else I have on hand to the service not simply of myself and what I desire at the moment – but instead wherever it seems needed. Which neither I, nor anyone else, is likely to do if distracted by. .  .
