Some days, I have no words at all. Shocking to those of you who have been reading my fountain of words the past six months, I know. But some days I have no words fit to print. Some days, the only way my heart can pray is in song. Today, this is the song:
Didn’t my Lord deliver Daniel
Deliver Daniel, deliver Daniel
Didn’t my Lord deliver Daniel
And why not every man?He delivered Daniel from the lion’s den
Jonah from the belly of the whale
And the Hebrew childrn from the fiery furnace
And why not every man?
Didn’t my Lord deliver Daniel
Deliver Daniel, deliver Daniel
Didn’t my Lord deliver Daniel
And why not every man?The wind blows east and the wind blows west
It blows like a judgement day
And every poor sinner that never did pray’ll
Be glad to pray that dayDidn’t my Lord deliver Daniel
Deliver Daniel, deliver Daniel
Didn’t my Lord deliver Daniel
And why not every man?I see my foot on the Gospel ship
And the ship began to sail
It landed me over on Canaan’s shore
An’ I’ll never come back no moreDidn’t my Lord deliver Daniel
Deliver Daniel, deliver Daniel
Didn’t my Lord deliver Daniel
And why not every man?
May God deliver us from every evil. I don’t know what form deliverance will take– for some, miracles, for some, endurance, for some a little of both, for some the cross, the grave, the descent and the resurrection after all hope seems lost. But may God deliver every man.
