Frozen’s “Let It Go” …Gets Away

Google Translate, you’re doing it wrong. (Or is that “doing it very, VERY right?“)

I can’t belt like Idina Menzel, but I can mess around with Google translate. That software can really destroy a song…and yet make it way too funny not to share.

By way of comparison:

I particularly love the way the escalating series of Google translations changed “Let It Go” to “Give Up.” That…doesn’t seem entirely faithful. (I am also exceedingly amused by the fact that Malinda Kathleen Reese’s video has almost 600,000 views [UPDATED: “over 600,000”], and her previous “Most Viewed” has 4,000. She must be thrilled.)

I haven’t seen the film, so I suspect the “translation” is more amusing to me because I lack any context on which to hang it. But it was a hilarious few minutes. And then I got distracted by the translating prospects:
