“Beauty That Exists in the Most Minute Things”

“Beauty That Exists in the Most Minute Things” July 19, 2014

Macro photography is sort of like slow-mo in movies. Technically demanding and sometimes overused — Yes, I’ve abused the Micro setting on my Canon pretty badly in the past, if you must know — but capable of showing you things otherwise impossible to see and wonderful when used appropriately. Take these images from photographer Alejandro Ferrer Ruiz, for example:

Breath-taking, no?

NotesOnTheRoad.com describes him as “a Spanish artist who specializes in macrophotography, giving you a new perspective on the world.” And MyModernMet.com says that his style is “really beautiful with a hint of magic to it.” “New perspective” and “beauty with a hint of magic?” Yep! (They also quote Ruiz himself as saying that “I enjoy the beauty that exists in most minute things.” Goodness knows he’s found that beauty; I’m just glad he’s sharing it with the rest of us.)

I’m not reproducing that many of his pictures here, because you must visit his 500px.com page in order to enjoy them in their vibrant, full-sized glory. …unless close-ups of spiders are not your thing. In which case, you should just stay here and look at these. Ladybugs are safe.
