elfilm.com-wayward-pines-426610 (Square)Despite the fickle winds of fame and fortune (and concrete cinematic evidence notwithstanding), I remain a firm fan of Mr. M. Night Shyamalan.

I am also a huge supporter of “The Prisoner,” and an appreciator of (if, admittedly, a bit distant from) “Twin Peaks.”

So, this is something that I will probably watch.

And how.

Imagine the perfect American town, beautiful homes, manicured lawns, children playing safely in the streets…Now imagine never being able to leave. You have no communication with the outside world. You think you’re going insane. You must be in Wayward Pines.

Based on Blake Crouch’s international bestselling series of books and brought to life by suspenseful storyteller M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense,” “Signs”), WAYWARD PINES is the 10-episode, intense psychological thriller evocative of the classic hit “Twin Peaks.”

The phone moment gives me a hint of “The Booth at the End,” as well. Which is, of course, an even greater incentive. Plus, I love the poster. And the cast is outstanding: Matt Dillon, Carla Gugino, Melissa Leo, Toby Jones, Reed Diamond, Juliette Lewis, and Terrence Howard (to name some-but-not-all).

For the M. Night-averse, I’ll just point out that he didn’t do any writing. (That distinction falls to Chad Hodge, the show’s creator.) And he’s only directed one of the show’s 10 episodes. (To be honest, I’m even more intrigued by the fact that Zal Batmanglij directed a couple. And Nimród Antal, as well.)

But no matter. I’m there. With bells on. (Whatever that means.)
