More Explosive Devices Target Eric Holder, John Brennan, Among Others

More Explosive Devices Target Eric Holder, John Brennan, Among Others October 24, 2018

So today has been busy. And frightening.

To date, no one has been hurt, but after the initial report of explosive devices being sent to the Clinton family, as well as to former President Barack Obama, there have been additional reports of mailed explosives, and they all seem quite specific in their targeting.

Investor, George Soros was the first to receive what is being described as a rudimentary explosive device in the mail on Monday. Unlike the other packages, this was not mailed, but seems to have been placed in the mailbox.

The packages addressed to the Clintons and President Obama were reported earlier Wednesday, and then minutes later, the Time Warner Center, headquarters for CNN News, was evacuated after a suspicious package was found in the mail room.

The oddity about that particular package was that it was addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan.

Brennan does not work for CNN, but has appeared as a guest.

He’s an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump. Is that why he was targeted?

Maybe.

The Florida office of former DNC Chairwoman, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Shultz also received a package today.

Here comes the twist:

The package received at the office of Wasserman-Schultz is being reported as a “return to sender” situation. It was addressed to former Attorney General Eric Holder. The address was wrong, so it was sent to the return address on the package – the office of Wasserman-Schultz.

In fact, Wasserman-Schultz’s address was on all the packages, according to what is being reported now.

I think it’s a safe bet to say Debbie Wasserman-Schultz did not send these packages.

The devices, described as pipe bomb-type devices, with wiring, gun powder and other reactive substances – some with glass shards or metal fragments included to do more damage – are not sophisticated, but are being described as “functional.”

Additionally, the package that arrived at the Time Warner Center contained an unknown white powder.

As I sit here and write this, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced that his office also received a suspicious package and it was being dealt with.

Another package was intercepted at a facility in Capitol Heights, Maryland, where mail is screened before being sent to members of Congress.

The White House has issued a statement, via White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

“We condemn the attempted violent attacks recently made against President Obama, President Clinton, Secretary Clinton, and other public figures,” Sanders said.

Later, Sanders said President Trump and other administration officials were closely monitoring the “ongoing situation,” including threats made to CNN.

Other Republican lawmakers have stepped up to issue firm denouncements of what is nothing short of terroristic actions.

Senator Ted Cruz also issued a statement.

So what do all of these targets have in common?

I’ll add that it is the absolute worst take to rush and claim Democrats are sending these devices to themselves, in order to frighten the base into action before the midterm elections.

It’s not just a bad take. It’s an incredibly stupid take.

Stop it.

*EDIT*

The device sent through the congressional mail screening facility in Maryland was targeting Rep. Maxine Waters.
