update: it seems “prolife” was never on trump’s policy page to begin with

Earlier today several of us here at Patheos wrote about the possibility that Trump had cut all mention of abortion or defense of life from his official policy page, based on several eyewitness accounts.  While several individuals have said they remember seeing a button for abortion and life issues, originally, on Trump’s policy page, it now seems likely that what they remembered seeing was a press release. All press releases have been removed from the Trump website, and what remains is the site as it stands: with no mention of abortion of a pro-life stance.

Removing the button immediately after the election would have been quite a slap in the face to Catholic voters, and it looks now as though Trump did not administer such a slap: he didn’t need to, if opposing abortion was never really on his policy list to begin with.

My primary point still stands: Trump was having us on. But I apologize for what seems to have been an inaccuracy in my prior account.
