August is Cauldron Month (Tempest-style)!

August is Cauldron Month (Tempest-style)! July 30, 2019

So I saw a friend post this link about August is Cauldron Month. And me, having written the book on cauldrons, got all excited thinking that someone decided we should focus on cauldrons all month long.  Like, what is not to love about that??

However no, that’s not what “Cauldron Month” means or refers to. Apparently the concept started with Molly back in 2016 here, and the focus – in her own words is “This is a time in which I ‘take it all to the cauldron’ and let it bubble and brew and stew and percolate.” Which is a great concept. It truly is, and one a lot of people should consider and utilize.  Downtime to ponder, absorb, and brew things is necessary – especially for artistic pursuits and stressful lifestyles alike.

But that hasn’t stopped my brain from kicking into high gear and wondering what my initial vision when I first heard “Cauldron Month.”  I mean, why not use the cauldron as a focus tool for an entire month, right?  The cauldron is iconic in Witchcraft, yet so often overlooked or underestimated. So a little fun challenge with cauldrons could definitely help folks explore and discover cauldrons more.

Therefore I present to you: a calendar of Cauldrons – inspiration for every day in August! August may seem a weird month for cauldrons, but it’s an excellent time to think about balancing hot and cold, preparing for the harvest and Autumn. Perfect timing to get re-familiar with the cauldron.

If you feel inspired, please do join in and  follow along – and share your thoughts and images with the hashtag #ltzcauldron so you can see what others Witches are up to. Also, keep in mind there are many things that function as cauldrons besides the classic one – bathtubs, washing machines, crock pots, pasta pots, teapots, and more.  Below, I’ve set a theme for each day and gave you a little bit of inspiration to get your cauldron brewing for the first week, then you can take it from there! I’m going to try and do it too on my Instagram and author page on FB.

8/1 – Clean Your Cauldron. As we’ve just had a New Moon, this is a great time for new beginnings.  For a good fresh start, dust your cauldron off, give it a bath, season it if it’s cast-iron, etc.
8/2Bless Your Cauldron. Bless your cauldron to help give focus and direction. Use incense, salt, water, and candle, and/or anoint with oil – whatever your preferred method.
8/3 -First Brew.  What will you brew with your newly cleaned and blessed cauldron?
8/4 – Favorite Cauldron – share the cauldron you’re most proud of.
8/5 – Cauldron of Protection. Today is a good day to focus on protection spellcraft with your cauldron.
8/6 -Cleansing Cauldron. Utilize your cauldron to spiritually cleanse something.
8/7 -Cooling Cauldron. Beat the heat and balance emotions.
