Magical Movement: Health, Wealth, Darkness & Light December 23, 2020

Time to recap the last week of the Witchual Workout!  If you don’t know about it – the Witchual Workout is a daily program designed to get you (and me) up and moving regularly – with a dash of magical inspiration to help build and enhance your daily practice. You don’t have to be a dancer of any kind to participate and I encourage you to listen to your body and modify as needed.  Many of these episodes can be done from a seated position as well.

The major theme for last week’s episodes was balance – considering health and wealth, darkness and light. Some really excellent and easy to do movement meditations + ideas for ritual in this group!

Monday, December 14th – Witchual Workout 101: New Moon & St. Lucy
Thank you to everyone who submitted comments for the contest (and followed the rules). I announce the winners early on (congrats!) and then we get into looking at combining New Moon energy with the feast of St. Lucy, which just took place on December 13th. We do a moving meditation to bring back the light and grow it.

Tuesday, December 15th – Witchual Workout 102: Five of Pentacles
Today is a Tarot day and I pulled the Five of Pentacles. Definitely not my favorite card to see, but it feels timely and presents some important things for us to consider. Building on previous episodes, we look at how circles and shimmies can be used to break us out of cycles we may be stuck in – as well as how to take better care of ourselves.

Wednesday, December 16th – Witchual Workout 103: Asklepios

It’s Wednesday, so we’re looking to the divine again for our theme. Today’s inspiration is Asklepios (Asclepius) – Greek god of medicine, a son of Apollo. He is often depicted with a staff that has a serpent spiraling around it. We are going to use a very simple hand/arm sequence to tap into this healing energy, so you can do this seated – and there isn’t the usual warm-up. You can use what we go over today to combine it with larger movements, or just keep it simple.

Thursday, December 17th – Witchual Workout 104: Oracle – Metal
Today is an oracle day and we received “Metal” from the Artifacts group. We have trace metals within our bodies, metal can be considered the blood of the Earth itself. To work with metal successfully, we need to have patience, strength, and stamina. So today is definitely an active workout that will get the metal flowing in your veins.

Friday, December 18th – Witchual Workout 105: Solstice Ritual
This episode is a special feature that outlines a simple Solstice ritual you can do. You will need: – a small bowl of water – a tealight/small candle (and something to light it with) – a sprig of evergreen You can do the suggested motions as feels necessary, or you can choose to do them in sets of 3, 5, 7, etc. Up to you.

You can absolutely jump around to different episodes or themes, or levels of difficulty.  Some episodes are designed just for sitting or focus on a single part of the body, so you can do what you are able or feeling engaged to do so.
